Please register for this workshop here…https://www.roxanneevansstout.com/current-schedule/

Leighanna Light and Roxanne Evans Stout invite you to join them in magical Taos, New Mexico for a rich, immersive, creative, week long experience. We will explore bookmaking, surface design and various mark-making techniques on metal, paper, and fabric. Then, rearrange the materials to create our own “Fragment Keeper” book to preserve our special memories & experiences. Many of the pieces we will create can be enjoyed simply for their visual splendor, or if you choose, reconstruct them to become integral parts of your unique hand crafted journal.

From fabric prayer flags to distressed metal tiles, bold mark making to delicate leaf prints, our books will be inspired by the elements of the earth from this enchanted place where we are gathering.

In addition to creative learning, we offer an opening night celebration, complimentary lunches & snacks and a closing dinner.

New Mexico received its nickname, ‘The Land of Enchantment’, because of its natural beauty, rich history and vibrant culture. The people, their heritage and traditions, their skills and their arts, and the land, its awesome beauty, all make New Mexico the unique and colorful place that it is today.

There is so much going on during first weekend in October, so be sure to plan to stay for a few extra days if you can. On Saturday & Sunday you can explore the Wool Fest in Kit Carson Park, the Abiquiu studio tour, home of Georgia O’Keefe, & of course the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque!

We hope that you will join us for this creative learning experience, and  enjoy the beauty and splendor of this beautiful land that we call Taos!

The total price for this workshop is $900 until February 1st, $975 after.

A $200 non refundable deposit is required to hold you space. If you would like to make payments by check only, please contact Leighanna to make arrangements.

You will need to bring some supplies, a supply list will be sent out after registering.

Tuesday October 1st, 9:30-4:30 PM

We will begin with the exploration of surface design on paper. Leighanna & Roxanne will each teach their favorite surface design recipes using plaster, pan pastels, gesso, ink & Roxanne’s special Taos mark making. This will be our loosening up day where we will begin to scratch the surface!

Wednesday October 2, 9:30-4:30 PM

On the second day we will be working with metal & fabric. In the morning Leighanna will teach image transfers, faux etching & how to make stunning leaf prints on metal. In the afternoon Roxanne will give your hands a rest when she switches to fabric. She will guide you in making beautiful prayer flags to include in your book or use as art to hang.

Thursday October 3rd, 9:30-4:30 PM

Today Roxanne will help you add the element of collage & stitching to your work, and throughout the day Roxanne & I will be working together to help you to apply rich layers and embellishments to your work. By now you will have a variety of luscious papers and fabric to use in your book, as well as several metal or fabric cover choices. We will begin to arrange our pages and assemble the cover, preparing our special book for binding.

Friday, October 4th, 9:30-3 PM

On our final day together, Roxanne & Leighanna will be working together to help you wrap it up. You will learn basic bookbinding skills as you sew your book and, once bound, we will add elements of metal & fiber.
